Parliament has raised its glass for the pale ale BOB of Bexley.

The smooth Erith beverage was on tap in the House of Commons’ last week Wednesday (16 March), much to the delight of Bexleyheath and Crayford MP, David Evennett.

Mr Evennett said: “I am pleased to have been able to support Bexley Brewery, whose parakeet logo is popping up all over London and the South East.

“The company is going from strength to strength, thanks to the variety of beers that they sell.

“I know that many colleagues flocked for a pint of the award-winning Bexley ale.”

The beer was sold, described as having a “floral floral aroma with a well-balanced flavour of gentle bittering and a lingering subtle sweetness”, in the Strangers’ Bar of Westminster.

The scheme is part of an initiative from the Houses of Parliament’s catering team in aid of small brewers and local businesses that sell beers like BOB (Bexley’s Own Beer).

Owners Cliff and Jane Murphy were invited to Parliament to serve a pint of their beer, whilst their son Cameron – potentially a brewer in the future – watched on.
